  • Oh I remember when I first heard about that story. Not only is it such a tragic loss of such a young girl with a promissing future but also because of why it happened too. I was shocked to learn that this boy's mother knew about what was going on and it sounds like she condoned his behavior. Just another reminder of how careful we need to be when it comes to the internet and our kids. Very sad.

  • I have mixed feelings here. I think that the mother of the girl should have been MUCH more vigilant over her daughter's myspace page. Had she been monitoring it, they could have been discussing it and dealing with it as it happened. While lots of factors go into a suicide, it's always ultimately about the person committing it, and not about what other people are doing. It's how they are dealing with life, or rather, not dealing, that is the issue. Does that make sense?

At the same time, I do think internet stalking and harassment should be illegal. People feel free to do things online they wouldn't do face to face because there are often no consequences for those actions.

  • I saw that and felt so terrible for the Mother! But MySpace - damn! I hate that website. My niece has an account there and feels she needs to share everything openly for the world and pervs to read. And she posts some of the nastiest photos of herself barely clad in clothing - she's just 14!

What is wrong with people though? Why didn't both Mothers step up and take control? And just exactly WHO lets their child bully another - online or anywhere? I'd have a shitfit!! I could go on!

    How is everyone feeling?

  • Your close, 9 :what: I only have one outside and I'm couting it cause it's on my patio.  I'm sure I'll be a real grinch come end of December when it's time to take them down! :o h-no:
