    I found my USB cord and thought I would participate in Kelli's Show and Tell Friday:

    My mom cross-stitched this Advent Calendar when I was little~I am not sure how long it took for her to embroider (I will ask her tomorrow--she's coming to spend the weekend with us!).  As a child, I loved that the angel was on the 13th, since that is my birthdate.  My mom always organized it so that it was my turn for the Advent Calendar on my birthday (I love you, Mom!)!  This year was the first year that I arranged it so that my December baby had his turn on his birthdate, LOL!

    This calendar is perfect for hanging little presents like candy, money, and small trinkets.  Since we have two little ones who still put things in their mouths, I refrained from buying small trinkets~so I attached each boy's name to the rings this year (well, baby did not participate this year!).

    She also cross-stitched stockings for each of us (six in our family~I have two brothers and one sister) that I remember taking years for her to complete, LOL!  I will have to take a picture of those next year and put them on my blog...

  • I love the Advent calendar...
    And I enjoyed the story below...I had read it before somewhere a long time ago, and it made me cry again.
    Thank you for your prayers...I greatly appreciate them.
    God bless!!!

  • Wow! That calendar is so very detailed and beautiful! That is something you can pass down!

  • How cute! The calendar is so pretty and what a neat thing to have! I want to make a quilted one. I haven't gotten back into cross stitch yet. :}

    :so-cool:

  • That calendar is beautiful. I'm sure your mom really loves how much you appreciate it and the time it took.  Those little traditions are the best.  I remember staying up late baking w/ my mom while we watched old Christmas movies.  Well this year I started doing that w/ my 10yr old and he loved it.

    Stockings are quite an undertaking.  I knit and so far have knit stockings for the littlest two boys since I didn't knit that well when the older two were babies.  So this year I have committed to knitting stockings for the older two boys.  They are so excited.  It really means so much to have that hand-made stuff and I am sure your Mom loved making them for each of you, thinking about all the Christmas memories there would be tied to them.  Just as I do as I sit and knit for my boys.  It is nice to know you enjoy yours even as an adult.

  • That's a great advent calendar!

  • That is a great Advent calendar!!

  • So cute!  We have 2 children with Dec birthdays - only one old enough to realize it though, this year!

    What a treasure you have!
