Contradiction?
Obama on 60 Minutes (italics mine):
"You know, this has been a systematic e-mail smear campaign that's been going on since actually very early in this campaign," Obama said. "I have never been a Muslim, am not a Muslim.... It plays into, obviously, a certain fear-mongering there."
Obama, as quoted from his writing:
"In our household the Bible, the Koran [sic], and the Bhagavad Gita sat on the shelf alongside books of Greek and Norse and African mythology. On Easter or Christmas day my mother might drag me to church, just as she dragged me to the Buddhist temple, the Chinese new year celebration, the Shinto shrine, and ancient Hawaiian burial sites."

I don't think it is "contradiction". Note he was only naming all the books that's on his shelf, singling none out. My mom also have Q.... (other bible), does that make her Isalism? I believe not.
It does make me suspicious. His father, stepbrother, brother, and grandfather were all Muslim. Additionally, his father was buried in a Muslim ceremony. I do question if he was *never* a Muslim...
Obama’s stepfather was a practicing Muslim.
“Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths,” Obama recalled. “He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.”
“It was to Lolo that I turned to for guidance and instruction,” Obama recalled. “He introduced me as his son.”
Obama is not a Muslim, and if he were I'm sure that he would have no problem telling the electorate. He is an intellectual and an academic, raised in a family that valued expanding horizons. Maybe you should examine why you are are scared to have a president of a different faith?

I am Catholic--who was the last Catholic president in office? Kennedy. There has not be a Catholic American president in office in my personal lifetime.
Just to clarify, I did not say that Obama is a Muslim--I doubt his honesty in saying he was *never* a Muslim. The quote above your comment is from the book Obama authored.
I honestly do not know if Obama has ever considered himself a Muslim even if he took a lot of advice from a Muslim. Although Lolo doesn't sound like much a Muslim. It sounds like there was a lot of the religious "smorgasboardism" that passes off as Christianity in our country. Like most intellectual elitists in this country, he probably only has faith in himself or the state. I worry more about Obama's nanny state agenda.
@Thoughts_of_Steven - I have wondered about that, too, Steven. I wonder if he was raised Muslim until he was sent to live with his grandparents in America. Here is an article I read about him praying in mosques, etc. as a child:
