An annoying habit
This past year, I started collecting coupons. I have found that this is a habit that might annoy others, my husband, for one! It takes time to clip and organize coupons--I do not think it takes too much time, but it's just enough time to bug him a little. People standing behind me in lines are annoyed by my coupons. People do *not* want to wait any longer than they perceive they have to (I also feel their eyes boring into my head while writing a check or returning change to my wallet). Some clerks are annoyed by coupons. Especially if the coupon does not scan and they have to hand-type it in, heaven forbid!
And, I have also been signing up for freebies on the Money Saving Mom website and they are pouring into my mailbox! Most of them come with more coupons (no clipping, LOL!). In my Salvation Army bowl:
I need to take a picture of my last receipt from CVS, the main place where I use my coupons. It shows where I have saved almost $300 this spring and only spent a little over $15.
This little piece of information erased all annoyance from my husband's face...

I'm all for using them. Nothing wrong with that! I've never been bothered by a person in line in front of me using coupons. You've got to do what you've got to do. Personally I'd like to be better about it and I do clip them (I have good intentions lol) but I never think about them again until I'm in the check out line. lol But with the cost of living rising as quickly as it is I think it's something I really should consider taking more seriously than I do. Anyway that I can save a few bucks on the everyday things my family and I use is always helpful.
You saved $300??? Wow. That's fantastic! Hmmm, they just built a brand new CVS in town. It's probably the closest store to us. I should take a closer look at that site and see if I can get into the coupon habit too. :big-smile:
I use coupons when I remember them. I used to love to go to double dollar day but they don't do that so much these days. You and my mom both strike it rich at CVS. I need to take some lessons from you both!! Way to go!
I will post later on a ton of coupon printing sites and savings sites that I use! I LOVE coupons (but I'm all for a good bargain anyways)! YOU GO GIRL!!!
Just browsing around and found your page. hope you don't mind. I loved this post about the coupons! That's great! I should be more disciplined with my coupons. I clip them, then usually forget them.
:big-smile:
No CVS here. Numberous Walgreen. Need to look very closely at Walgreen. One thing my dh like about me is that I still carry habits from the years when I need to support myself with less than $3,000 each year. I buy cheap. Cheap meal planning (still struggle with porportion, no second helpings, we both are big enough already). Note to self: look for that coupon book in Walgreen (it is not mailed here). I not very often see very good deals that is not store brand.
