  • I've been cleaning out from under my bathroom cabinet--these are the soaps I've found so far (I kind of pick up soaps from various places--now I need to use them!).

I wonder how the (white) lavender would work in my homemade laundry detergent?  I might add it to my next batch!!  BTW, the bowl is a chipped transferware I found (for around $2) at an antique store.  Paula, from Heartyworks, asked me to write a post about antiquing and I am going to attempt to  take pics and document my next trip to the antique stores!

  • I love soap and antiques   I have some carnival glass my Dad gave me, I'll have to take a pic of the top of my kitchen cabinets and send you.

  • I love me some Burt's soap!

    Homemade laundry detergent? Do tell!

  • What a BEAUTIFUL dish and collection of soaps! I am JUST starting to collect soaps as I finally have a BATH (our old house just had a shower). I agree with wanting to hear about your homemade laundry soap. I have been wanting to make my own, but have not had the courage. I too would LOVE to do something lavendery for my sheets and towels. I have thought about adding some lavender essential oil to the vinegar in my final rinse (I use vinegar as a fabric softener). Any thoughts on if that would be safe?

And can you tell I am ANXIOUSLY awaiting you going on your next antique trip!!!! Pictures and a how-to. You KNOW I am gonna have to post a link to it on my blog! :) Paula (heartyworks.blogspot.com)

  • I didn't know there was homemade laundry soap....I'm curious!

  • OH Kat I love your soaps... Dale and I went on a soap making kick a few years back..... we need to have a soap making party it is fun!

  • I love homemade soap.  Got some for Christmas.  Your soap dish is pretty.

  • Paula--I don't think adding essential oil to your laundry would harm it--in this last batch of detergent I made (I quadrupled the recipe), I added about 20 drops of lavender oil, then just shook the canister really well~it smells so good!  You could add any oils to make your own scent!  I recently bought a Downy ball, so that I can start using vinegar in the rinse cycle--I might add oil to that, too!  :) Kat

  • You have to stop posting all these cleaning photos (you are making me clean my own home)!! And you have to quit posting all those lovely wonderful things you have because now my decorating has turned to Cottage Vintage!! Okay do NOT stop posting the photos!!! LOVE THEM!!
