  • Ahhhh...I'm still awake.    I learned so much this evening.  You know how I've posted recently about the mountain of laundry?  And how I've been working on it?  And the dryer is dying?

Well.  I thought I had the perfect solution:  the laundromat!  I can take my mountain, wash everything (1 hour), dry everything (1 hour), and be FINISHED!  I didn't even consider how long it would take to fold.  I didn't entertain any ideas about the dryers needing two cycles.  Or, filling up so many dryers that I later got confused and thought that a lady took two of my loads (I'm still not sure that she didn't--I guess I'll find out when--or if ever--I realize something is missing...).

We met my dh at 6:00 (he was thrilled, I might add~he went from work to a laundromat) and we didn't finish until 9:42.  Yeah, sometimes I don't think in realistic time frames when I have these grand ideas.  My babies?  They ran around the 'mat for a while, then sat in the van and watched movies, eating Pringles and chocolate.  This must count as exercise--I mean, I was on my feet for 3 hours and 42 minutes, sweat was running down my back, my scalp was drenched, forehead beaded (okay, okay-you get the picture).

I lost all sense of time in there.  I actually expected to see 8:30-something on the clock in my van.  ??

I don't have the energy to put the clothes away!  It can wait until tomorrow...and I'm going to cull that laundry down to the bone. *Testify!*  If it has a stain, a hole, or a fickle zipper, it's OUT.

Just for kicks and giggles, would you like to guess how many loads of laundry we did at the 'mat tonight?  A sweet little vintage tablecloth to the first person who guesses correctly!

  • hummm?  8?  That's a LONG time!  I bet your beat.

  • Now that is not a fun night.  Brings back college days when I had to sit there forever and wait and wait.  Our dryer is acting up and there is no way I'm doing the laundromat thing!

    How about nine loads? :what:

  • I've done that laundromat thing on occasion!! Did you do 12 loads?

  • Oh no!  You can always come to my house and use my dryer but ours is always krapping out on us.

  • :frog: I've never left one of these before!

  •

Y'all are too kind!  Don't give me the benefit of the doubt (what does that mean, anyways?!), though--think mountain.  Think baby...think dryer has been backing up my laundry for two weeks...

    :dancingcow:

  • 20 loads
Did you have enough quarters for it all??? :straight-face:
I've had this idea a few times, in a perfect world it would work...
Getting all your laundry done at one time is reason enough...

  • It's been two weeks AND you have a baby plus two other children??? Hmmmm, Had to be alot. I think I'll guess 22 loads. That's an awful long time to wash clothes. I've had to use laundromats many times. It's not much fun but it really is alot faster. I think you deserve a nap after all that! lol. :sleepy:

  • RYC:  Yes, the same is for dogs as cats.  I wish I live to be that old!

  • I see an "8" a "9" "12" "20" "22" and "16" I'm going to guess 24

  • Well I would guess again but..... I know the answer now :what:  It was great talking to you today,  have a wonderful weekend.

  • I am going to say 28 Loads only because you said the other lady had the last 2.  They would put an even 30 machines in the laundry mat right???

    Cindy

  • Hmmmmmmmmm my guess is 32 loads........

  • :celebrate:

    21 loads!

  • So, I'll send Sarah AND Jody each a vintage tablecloth, since they were both one away!  You can message me with your address info!  :)

I AM embarrassed by that number, by the way!!!  I was trying to count it out with Jamie on the phone today--four loads were blankets (comforter, bedspread, plush winter blanket, and a load of kid's blankets), four or five color loads, three whites, one white w/a little color, two loads of "lights", one load of reds, one of beach towels, one load of baby, two loads of denims, and I can't remember what else!

  • SHEETS!  LOL  :whew:

  • OKay, been there...done that   I would have to guess...16 loads

    Love ya,

    Liz

  • Embarrassed?  Why? I mean 21 is really not that big of deal .. I do about 21 loads a week :celebrate:.. and if your dryer is on the fritz and behind anyway I would say 21 is a conservative number.

  • Oh you are brave!  After the first few days I would have either called the repair man or went out and bought a new one!  Either of those have to be way easier than tackling the laundry mat with 21 loads and four kids!  Where did the laundry fit in your vehicle anyway!?

  • :birdie:It's too much!!  I am going to get the boys down to 10 outfits each...

Debbie--when you open the back of our van, it's "hollowed" out, and more can fit (LOL).  We had four baskets and I think four big black trash bags.  One of the trash bags ended up in between the seats...when we were going home, my dh put most of the laundry into his Jeep--I think I had two baskets.

My dh says we'll NEVER do this again, LOL!!  Hopefully we won't have to.:ROTFL:
