  • Howdy!

I am going to write this post as quickly as I can, because my tricky little modem might turn off at any moment!  (Tech coming Monday to fix modem--I am hoping to be back on-line regularly soon!).

A favorite site of mine is The Nester--and I was inspired to make a stick/feather arrangement similar to hers for my front porch:

It was so easy--and my inspiration happened to occur the week that feathers were on sale, half price, at Hobby Lobby.  These feathers are fake, but the difference is not too obvious until you touch them, LOL!

    :)

Hope to be back early next week!

    Hugs,

    Kat

  • Busy Week

    hello

We are going to VBS in the evenings this week.  I like it being in the evening, but it really makes my days short!  Yesterday ended up being kind of a hectic day--we went to the $1 movie at 10 in the morning and had lunch at McDonald's with friends.  Lamb wanted to go to the teen activity at the library at 2:00, which left us less than an hour at home--not enough time to lay the little ones down for a nap; they ended up napping in the car while I dropped off movies, ran errands, and took advantage of the Starbucks drive-thru (Double-shot iced cappucino? Never again!  Too strong= too wired!!).  We had about an hour and a half at the house before we left for VBS, which lasted until 9:00.  I spent most of my time chasing my two little guys between the nursery and the music room--I am hoping that tonight, the "new" will be worn off and they'll be a little more settled!

On the way home from VBS, I called my friend Rebecca to chat and complain about how tired I was--and that I was sweating the entire time we were at VBS (I'm thinking, "Is it the church a/c or is it me?!").  She reminded me about that double-shot cappucino--BINGO.  Even more reason to not have one of those again, LOL.  Tonight I expect to leave VBS with dry hair...

My modem is off and on--I am just going with the flow.  It's helping me to limit myself on the computer, which is good for my household goals, LOL.  But, it is a little frustrating when it turns off right in the middle of a paid survey...

  • I am enjoying this blog:

    http://captivatingwoman.com/

I love to read blogs that inspire me:  to be a better person, to be organized, or to learn various homekeeping tips!  These are some of my favorite reading subjects~and, sometimes I will find a blog and go through the archives to glean every little bit.

Today I have pretty much made a free-day~kind of resting from traveling and catching up on my favorite sites.  This evening, I will wash our laundry from the past few days and straighten up the house...

We didn't leave last night--I was on a laundry roll and didn't want to stop, LOL!  So, we are up early this morning--we have a few things to pack and then we will be ready to go.

I wanted to update on Sailor--we went for a follow-up visit to the ENT and while his swollen lymph node is significantly smaller, the Dr. decided to put him on one more round of steroids and antibiotics.  He said that cancer would not shrink--so I feel very relieved.  We have to check on it throughout the summer and he wants to see him again in three months.  Thank you all for praying!

  • Today's to-do list:

    laundry_helpers

I am trying to get most of our laundry finished today!  It is quite a job--once again, I have let it pile up into Mt. Washmore!!

We have five graduations this year--we will attend three of them and mail cards to the other two.  We are packing and leaving today (well, this evening!) and we should return by Saturday.

  • Our garage is a nightmare

I am so, so hot!  I can feel the heat radiating off my body as I write this, LOL.  We have been pulling everything out of our garage--the garage that we haven't parked in since I moved in seven years ago, because I filled it with furniture and boxes.  Many of my things never fit in the house.  People always try to say to me something like, "If you haven't used it in a year, you should get rid of it", but that's not quite the case with me.  I couldn't use my things, because there wasn't enough room for them!

Anyways, we have two main categories:  storage or garage sale.  If I come across something that I know can't be rescued, I throw it away.  Some of my boxes were never unpacked--I am actually re-taping them and they will just move along with us~when we get into our new house, I will unload them and probably have another garage sale.

I have seven years worth of teaching supplies that my husband wants me to sell or throw away, but I really need to go through it.  There are so many things I can use with our homeschool, and so many pictures and keepsakes that I need to remove.  It will probably move with us...

I found my "senior book"--most seniors bought a pre-made book, but I made my own--a huge album of pictures and mementos.  (I'd love to scan some pics later from it to post!).  It shouldn't have been in the garage--this whole time I thought it was in one of our closets with all of my photo albums!

Well, I ordered pizza for us and now that I've cooled off some, I am going to work until it arrives.  At least it's starting to cool off outside!

The flies shooed us off into the house to eat!  I tried this little trick that I've seen at outdoor restaurants...

    but, it didn't work!

Tess--we love this little dog!  (Well, when she's not having "accidents" in our house!)!
